Trail access

Riding in town
Matewan is one of WV Tourism's five ATV-friendly communities, and the feud sites are close by. Ride approved streets from daylight to dark. Town connector routes are not permission to ride any road. Outside routes a statute or local ordinance allows, state rules bar ATVs and UTVs from roads with a center line or more than two lanes, except to cross: stop fully, cross at about a right angle, yield to traffic, and use your lights if the machine has them.
Buffalo Mountain connector
The Authority's Buffalo Mountain web page lists Matewan, Delbarton and Williamson as Buffalo Mountain connector towns, while its August 2025 brochure and current official map place Matewan on Devil Anse and list only Delbarton and Williamson for Buffalo Mountain. The Devil Anse trailhead is in town and links into Buffalo Mountain; check the current official map for the route.
