Williamson base · three days

A three-day Hatfield-McCoy ride plan from Williamson

Use Williamson's Buffalo Mountain connector as your base for the connected Buffalo Mountain, Devil Anse, Rockhouse and Braveheart systems. These are day themes, not turn-by-turn routes: check the current official maps and closures before setting out.

Day 1: Buffalo Mountain from town

Use Williamson's approved community connector to reach Buffalo Mountain. The Authority lists three connectors serving Williamson and Delbarton. Choose trails that suit your group and use the current map for the approved streets and the return to town. The staffed Buffalo Mountain trailhead is at 1472 Buffalo Mountain, Williamson, WV 25661.

Day 2: Devil Anse and Matewan

Ride the connected network toward Devil Anse, using the current map to select crossings and turns. Its trailhead is at 48 McCoy Street, Matewan, WV 25678. The Authority calls Matewan the heart of Hatfield-McCoy feud country, and its map marks Historic Matewan, the Devil Anse Tunnel and Hatfield cemeteries. Make time off the machine for Matewan; WV Tourism includes it on its feud tour. Respect the signs and use the map to plan your return.

Day 3: Rockhouse and Braveheart

Use the connected network to explore Rockhouse and Braveheart. The Authority identifies both as connected with Buffalo Mountain and Devil Anse. Rockhouse and Braveheart share a trailhead at 83 Rockhouse Creek Road, Man, WV 25635; the systems also reach the town of Man. Rockhouse has a range of difficulty ratings, while the brochure lists Braveheart as mostly green and blue. Pick a route and return plan from the current maps.

Before each day

Check the map and navigation guide, confirm your permits and machine rules, and plan for no signal. Stay on approved town connectors and marked trails; maps and signs determine the route.
